The primary reasons for the offensive struggles are simple. Lack of both talent and depth on the offensive line.
Jamaal had that season in spite of a weak offensive line, and Taysom made up for it with his feet.

Taysom had major accuracy problems and wasn't as fast as he's been in the past.

But maybe it's a little more obvious why he wasn't benched for Mangum

he wasn't benched for mangum b/c his perfectly sculpted legs could hide ty's

Tanner's drive against Utah that resulted in a missed field goal was as impressive, if not more so than

i considered that one in my analysis but still opted for beau's 2nd drive of

Tanner has several TD drives. Beau has none.
Adrielle

Yep. But honestly, who could have expected Tanner to take a nosedive

I think the beginning of the 1991 season is a useful history lesson to
Indy Coug

So you're saying you saw Tanner becoming what he showed in games 1-2? Really?

I'm saying given his supporting cast and how tough the schedule was

Fair enough.

Ty played terribly against FSU and PSU. But we should have won the UCLA game

Did I say he was great? Let me go back and read my post.

"Taysom was not the problem last year." Why not? Just because the team is

He wasn't perfect, but it's pretty clear now that something else is the major

With the way Hill is playing right now, we'd possibly be 4-0

Good gravy.

1 TD per quarter to beat LSU. Wisc the reason for "possibly" word choice.

This gets repeated so often, but do you know that it's true?

Wait a minute. Tanner's performance this year has been horrid, but don't

This is spot on. Tanner has very little pass protection. To be fair, we have

I watched every offensive play against Portland State and LSU again. I did not

its not just sacks allowed. Its time to throw. Its pocket integrity. And its the running game.

I've only rewatched the first 2 games, but

Bingo. IMO it's a lack of talent at the skill positions that's the big problem.

Sadly, Burt didn't beat out any of the 1/2 yd and a cloud of dust RB committee.

Bingo! What I said all of last year. Coaching staff road the coat tails of him.

Made me mad last year when Cougar 'fans' whined about Taysom not
BleedCougarBlue2

False. Taysom had an NFL RB to carry the offense. We never got to see what
Ash

I don't think it's as easy as "false" to his statement.
Tuskaloosa Cougar
9/20/17 2:58pm
Well, it makes a huge difference as a QB to be required to carry the whole load.

Offensive line and receivers making bad reads/drops was 75%, taysom was 25%

No considering very few pro set QBs make NFL rosters mostly come from spread
Bobmarleyjr
9/19/17 5:43pm
Hmmmm. Most colleges run the spread. Very few run pro set
PJMort
9/19/17 6:43pm
All the QBs but Kirk Cousins and Luck ran spread that are under 30

Sorry just read your number at the bottom. Only 5 of 15 did pro set in college

It makes me wonder what we missed from Taysom because of such a bad offense
Bobmarleyjr

Or better, as a seasoned veteran and JW at his side...

KendoVABeach
9/19/17 6:32pm
Who is Matthews?
No touching

Is this Mitch? Wasn't with the team in 2016.

All I know is I'm soooooo glad that Taysom made an NFL roster!
