This year we are talking about one person. Only one person on a 85 man football team (55 dressed). Yes they all know that person and now have a personal story to tell. Maybe 5 were at the party. Athletes aren't mocking the University. They are being dumb young adults.
On a personal note, I knew of several non-athletes that broke the HC. A girl in my ward had troubles with the law of chastity. 98% of the ward had no clue about it because of how the bishopric kept a tight lid on it. I knew because of my calling. And I kept quiet. She worked it out with the bishop and never left school enrollment. I know my roommates had very small infractions that were never reported. If I wanted to find alcohol, I could find it.
The point is that BYU is not this celestial bubble people make it to be. It has it's flaws just like any other association with young dumb adults. Utes and Aggies are just pointing that out sometimes making it a bigger issue than it is. But they are a lot less fewer than party schools like Arizona State and even less than Utah or USU. But anyone can find them. I don't think BYU is not pretending it doesn't happen, but that they are better at not making a public mockery of the athlete and dealing with it quietly similar to the experience of the girl I knew in my ward.
