it was a total "non-statement" when asked about conf expansion. here's the text:
"I would just caution you and say, I would not take expansion as a given," Boren said after the university regents meeting on Oklahoma's campus in Tulsa. "I'm not saying there won't be expansion. But I'm not saying it can be automatically assumed that there will be expansion."
that's the most carefully stated non-answer i can possibly drum up if i was boren's PR person. this was given at a time when it was pretty much assumed they were expanding (see ISU president's comments). all he's saying is everything's on the table, including not expanding. which we all knew already anyway.
again, i'm NOT saying it's a done deal and we're in but honestly no result oct 17 will surprise me...expand by 2 or expand by 4 either with or without BYU, not expand at all, table decision and say they'll "explore" some more. i think that's boren's job as president of board now...speak for everyone.
when he came out laid out his demands he was speaking as OU's president. i'm pretty sure their desire to make B12 better or leave hasn't changed.
