Musk is similar to Jobs IMO. He is a visionary and sells it big time. He sees where things are going and pushes to get there faster, but the ideas are not his. And a lot of what he does is purely attention getting.
It is possible to be innovative and not have vision or the ability to sell that vision. HP had a 64 bit processor in the 60s. They had the first touch screen in the early 80s. They had one of if not the first tablet pcs.
