While I was toying with the idea of upgrading our cooler to one of the premium (YETI/Pelican) line for extended camp adventures (Skyline/White Rim Trail etc.), part of me keeps thinking, "For that cost...bag the ice altogether and get a fridge!"

Up front cost is horrendous and makes the YETI look like a bargain, but when you spread that out over the years I plan on being off-roading it isn't too bad. Coupled with the fact that it can run on 12V or 120V, it makes a nice addition to the already small fridges that are typically found in an RV. So it may actually get more use from us than a cooler would.

Has anyone on this board actually bought one?
