...Texas gets better recruits than either BYU or Utah and has had a rough transition from a failing coaching staff to a new one trying to install a new culture. There's some house cleaning going on but in due time Coach Strong will get things turned around. That's a different situation than at BYU and Utah, both schools have Head Coaches who are well entrenched and well established cultures at their respective schools.
According to Scout BYU's last recruiting class before going Indy was rated the 22nd best in the nation (2010). Since then we've been very consistently in the 60's. Utah had a run after their 2008 Sugar Bowl season where they scored some really good recruiting classes (2010 - #34, 2011 - #39, 2012 - #33) but since then they have slipped into the 50-60 range. Maybe expectations were high early in their Pac12 adventure and poor early results have cooled the interest of recruits. I'm sure it could be interpreted in other ways.
BYU's drop off though is pretty clear and remarkably consistent. We've had a series of underwhelming seasons and a series of underwhelming recruiting classes since going Indy.
