We went with Solar City in AZ and asked for comps prior to the visit. They were able to show us very similar homes in our area with similar set-ups and projected expenses, power projections, etc.. They know how much each panel will produce, so their estimates (if they aren't working you over) should be fairly close.
The estimates we received were very accurate.
The thing you'll want to ask and to decide is whether you want a system that covers ALL of your summer costs or if you want one that chops off the summer peak (when A/C is running a lot). It may be different in Utah because of winter power usage for heating, but in AZ, they generally recommend a system that covers most of the costs during non summer months and then chops off part of summer usage. Supposedly those systems are more efficient.
