He should step up to the plate and say "yeah, i couldn't hack it...i thought leaving BYU would be good for me and it really just showed that maybe i was the problem".
I don't recall him ever placing blame or not taking responsibility. I don't recall that he's said much at all. I've heard a lot of other people voice their opinions based on limited knowledge of the situation, but he's been pretty quiet about it from everything I've seen. I also don't recall seeing anything where he has asked for sympathy. So, why do you think he now owes anybody an apology? Which is essentially what your are suggesting by saying he should "step up to the plate" and admit he "couldn't hack it".
I guess I've just never bought into the way of thinking that people don't deserve sympathy because somebody else has had it worse. You will almost always be able to find somebody who has "had it worse" in life. So yeah, I'm sure your right in that regard. Since you mention it though, do you know of a handful of kids at BYU who played a high profile position with the kind of scrutiny that he had, went thru something similar or worse, and wasn't affected by it? Or are you just kind of throwing it out there?
