happening every second of every day. You're right that we can't take upon ourselves every person's pain. It is too much for us. I think part of accepting the Atonement of Jesus Christ is accepting it for others' pain, and not just our own. We will feel the pain of others more deeply the more we know them. And as we come to know more people through a more connected world, we must learn to balance the covenant of mourning for those that mourn, while remaining strong, happy, and optimistic ourselves. I think you have to gauge your strength, impart of it when you can, and "turn off the news" when you can't. I too am extremely sensitive to the plight of others. I have had to change jobs, ignore negativity, etc. at times, just in order to avoid anxiety and depression. Luckily, I have experienced a few instances where the peace I have felt was so real and overwhelming, that I can hearken back to those moments with a sure hope that this fleeting flash in time called life will run its course and all the pain and sorrow will pass away. Revelation 21:4.
