He makes a good point. I grew up in and spent 20+ years of my life in San Jose. I eventually realized I could never afford a decent home there. To put it into perspective, the home I grew up in, which my parents sold years ago, was built in the 1950s, is about 2200 sq ft, and sits on probably a 1/6 of an acre lot. Recent appraisals have it right around $1Million. Plus, the political climate is not exactly LDS conservative family friendly. So, now I live in Rocklin. The house I'm in now would be way, way beyond our reach in the Bay Area. Still, California is a political mess, so there is that.
