I hear your POV here - but there's a reason it's never happened
except in two or three rare instances where a coach has done a great deal to prove himself at a lower level first. Mike Leach being the obvious example, and Leach broke all kinds of offensive records coaching at Valdosta State before he ever got a top tier look.
But yes - we're saying approximately the same thing, which is that he needs to prove himself in some capacity some other place.
