It does not follow from the fact that both teams experienced the same weather that the weather had an equally distributed impact on the game. All things being equal, extreme weather favors (a) the home team that knows the type of conditions and (b) the team that isn't as good as it takes both teams out of their gameplans and equalizes.

Some people have made a strange fetish out of not acknowledging the impact that weather can have on a game.
