I know, to many of you, this voting competition has sometimes seemed small, even silly. And that provides plenty of fodder for the cynics who tell us that this voting is nothing more than a contest of egos or the domain of the basements of our parents. But if you ever get the chance to talk to folks who voted, and pulled a chair up to their computers at 10pm MST/MDT – or saw slow typing folks pulling all-nighters just so they could show up on the top 10 once or twice, you'll discover something else.
You'll hear the determination in the voice of a man laid up in bed with back pain named PolarCoug convinced that a $100,000 scholarship fund for a kid whose dream it was to attend BYU was worth every late night, every arthritic knuckle.
You'll hear the story of the BYUFam1 and what they did for their father--because our love of sports and the way we share them with our children inspires a new generation of fanatics. (

You'll love the cynicism of guy like Mr. Bassman. Who at every thumbs down and smiley face made sure we were aware what we were doing was a colossal waste of time but, in the end, dropped a few thousand votes himself.
Or a Guy like Jimmerfan88 who was so fundamentally moved by this process he actually had his name legally changed to 6thfan.
Or names like ovalY, BYUFam1, JadoX, GuySmiley, cougarfan84, Bugle, yahozna, fudgers, alwaysblue, rerunc, hutch11, @BYUcougars, jlangager, gwalker, Mizzou-Blue, BellicoseButcher, Boxey, Jimmy Chitwood, cougarbouy and Jersey hunter who, combined, put in over 700,000 votes in the last round. Roughly 1 out of 3 of all of our votes came from one of these accounts. These folks set out to prove to the Nation of Cougars that they would not go silently into the night, that they would not succumb to evils of sleep and normalcy, and that with their dying breath they would submit their names to the world as the best set of capthca breakers this world had ever seen.
That's why we do this. That's what CB can be. And now we've showed the world that we will never be the same. And the world won't be the same either. That's why these things matter. It's not small, it's big. It's important. Voting in a competition like this can be noisy and messy and complicated and ripe with fraud and bots. But when we go through these big things it necessarily stirs passions, stirs up controversy. That won't change after today as we ride off into the sunset. And it shouldn't. What we have learned here will be a monument to our greatness
And we can never forget that as we post, people are copying our methods. They are planning in their Mom's basement how to even compete with us--let alone win. Risking their status among the cool just for a chance to belong, among the greats, when it matters.
But we've learned in this competition that there aren't greats when it comes to Jimmering Polls. There is only A Great. A Great that took down two bots in two weeks. A Great that took out the 2nd largest institution in the country in an hour. A Great whose Bison Hunt Stories, so unbelievable, might only be told by the GreenRake himself. A Great that crushed the 2nd place team so thoroughly they didn't even vote the last day. And A Great who beat 5 different schools at once. A Great, no--The Great, called Cougarboard.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, can Jimmer a poll against the folks who created the Jimmer. This was always the case, we now just have proof.
And to those in the NCAA, but not of our fandom, who find themselves perusing these pages, may I take a moment and speak on behalf of all cougar nation when I point out with undeniable accuracy: You Got
J1mm3r3d.
Until next time (and let's hope that is a while), you are dismissed.
