I was in the Village Inn in SLC a little after the game.
I saw a Aggie fan in like his mid 40s.
We exchanged pleasantries, then he said: "Why did your students not get as many tickets as ours?"
I explained. He said: "You know what's funny, even though you had less than half the students, your chants were much funnier. My son goes to USU and would hate this, but you got under their skin much better than they even tried to get under yours."
I said: "Haha, yeah?"
He said: "Oh, yeah, they were super mad. I think what got them the most mad was the "Big Brother, Little Brother" chant. Got more boos and birdies than I've ever seen from their student section. I was sitting right in-between both student sections, and honestly you guys cracked us up more than they did... and they were much angrier about the chants then you were. Very clever."
I loved that.
Seriously, ROC, good work. We were less than half the size of the herd and we still showed up. They were louder, sure ('cause they were bigger, not even exaggerating they had more than twice the student ticket allotment than we did). They were crazy and organized.
But we did well. We showed 'em up in a couple of instances. We made good noise for our few numbers. I'm super proud of the ROC. Stepped up big.
Oh yeah, and our team figured out how to score (let Haws swallow the double team and give the ball to Bartley, Carlino, Collinsworth, Halford, and Mika).
Awesome game. Hilarious beating them and owning them in the chant off at the end.
ROC and Team, GOOD WORK!
PS if you missed the post about the chant off:
