one more year. Last time we hired a coach we hired an assistant with a substantially better resume than Rice and look how that has worked out.
If Utah hires Rice he would be at best the 9th best coach in the Pac-12 (based on resume) and arguably he would be the worst coach going into the season. Every single Pac-12 coach, except for Dawkins, had head coaching experience when they were hired. Dawkin's being the lone exception was an assistant coach at one of the best college basketball programs. Rice doesn't have the pedigree that Dawkins has.
Dave Rice is rolling the dice and really hoping that you get lucky. Utah may get lucky and he could work out, but it would be just that luck. He would be the least qualified head coach that Utah has ever hired in the past 80 years (I would say all time but not sure really how qualified our coaches in the 1900s to 1930s were).
I don't even think that he has a resume good enough for Wyoming to hire him.
