Dan had cancer and had been sick for a long time. He married pretty late...I think he was about 40 when he found his sweetheart. He was a HUGE BYU fan...and he worked hard in his spare time to help BYU wherever he could. He knew the artist that created the "Turning Point" statue that now sits in the lobby of the SAC (went to HS with her in Colorado). He had the idea to get a large version done and donate it to BYU, but the red tape to get something like that done at BYU is amazing. But he met all their requirement - got a number of new cougar club members to go to Legacy level (one of the requirements) and that paid for it.

He was a funny guy...pretty odd sometimes as well. But I always enjoyed spending time with him, meeting up with him at games, talking, having lunch, etc. He was a good man.
