I think you are over-thinking this. If he is a lottery pick next year, nobody

will remember that maybe he was expected to be a lottery pick after year 1, and nobody will think the coaching sucks because this one young player took 2 years to become a lottery pick rather than 1 year. Plus, one and done guys will be making plenty of money their first year or 2 of college anyway. It would be a minor issue at most.
