Steve fisher won a national championship in 1989 at Michigan as a first year
Head coach being the first first time head coach to win the tournament since it expanded to 64 teams. Larry Coker won a national championship in football at Miami and went undefeated in 2001. Chris Peterson went 13-0 and won a fiesta bowl at Bouse State his first year as head coach
