Apple Pay itself doesn't offer purchase protection, but the protection they receive depends on the card they used
through Apple Pay. They likely need to go through their bank or credit card issuer. Hopefully they have some screenshots of their conversation with the guy and confirmation from the arena of some sort (if possible) that their tickets were fake.
