A lot of times, those are options that you can set. The salesman never tells you when you buy it, but you can
configure stuff like "doors lock when in drive" or all doors unlock in park, or just driver's. DRL on or off, or on in drive, things like that. Tons of stuff are configurable, but nobody ever does it because it ends up costing you a "computer connection fee" and a service request to do it.

When the car gets 20 years old, the Chinese will sell you cracked software (probably full of trackers and viruses) that will do it, so you make sure you have a really old laptop. And then when the car is 20 years old and 200k miles or more on it, the 5th owner finally customizes it.

Lol.

Here you go, Toyota Techstream through 2023. All yours for $28. "No key required!"

To put it in perspective, Toyota licenses Techstream for $1600 for the old model and $5600 for up to current models...PER YEAR. So yeah, try the amazon link at your own risk. I haven't dared yet.
