Very few coaches win consistently with inferior talent. Some do it consistently (some Princeton squads, St. Marie’s come to mind).

Lots of coaches are able to win with talent.

While the Big 12 is absolutely brutal, there is good clay to work with at BYU. KY et al are new to the college game, but they aren’t new to basketball. They have good players. I’ll keep hoping that’s what’s going to happen until the bitter end.
