It was kind of pain mostly because the GC we hired sat on his hands and would not stay on top of the sub work. I ended up towards the end of the project finding all the sub work myself. Found my own siding guys, carpet guys and finishing work guys. GC tried to add his 21% fee on to the bills for those three subs I got. That didn’t go over well and he agreed to back off but legally I think he had the recourse since we did sign a contract. But he recognized it was over a year for a simple add on and backed off. The only reason I needed a GC was for permits and expertise on how and where to do the add on. After that I could have easily found the sub work myself. Not sure If this info is any help.
