Anything worth having takes time, effort and money.
Dogs are not maintenance free because they require time, money and attention but in return they provide loyalty, companionship and distraction from daily toil.
If you're not interested or don't have time to expend that then a dog is not for you, but if you do, you'll be rewarded.
