Some years BYU will be on favorable end of the tiebreakers.

Perhaps they could tweak the lower rungs of the tiebreaker rules, but I doubt this season is going to cause the Big 12 to change to strict divisions anytime soon

The announcing of conference opponents for this season and next 3 seasons was a decision that they are sticking with this way (no divisions) at least for first 4 years of the 16 team conference
