Well we were skiing in 40s and rain in the Appalachian Mnts and it was too wet

As long as it hasn't melted and refrozen high of 20 isn't a problem. Just be sure you're dressed warm enough.

Ideal is sunny & no wind. Less ice (softer snow) in low to mid 30s.
