The key, as it was 30 years ago, is to run hot routes that are short drags. I don't throw deeper than about 3 yards beyond the LOS unless there is a single high safety or a safety blitzes and there is press coverage on an outside receiver. If I see that look, I hot route that outside receiver to a streak and throw it right after the bump.
