And yes, as parents, we aren't doing a good job as a whole in teaching how to use them or resist the draw. I, personally, use google link and bark to have some control of screen time, app usage, and monitoring for anything that becomes a teachable opportunity. We waited until 14 and/or HS for smart phones and any phone at all. No social until at least 16, but not going to bring it up unless the kid does. I'm a never Tik Tok and time limit myself for Instagram and don't use much of anything else. My oldest seems to use Pinterest most and just deleted Snapchat (hate it, but allowed 10 min a day and then she saw how stupid it was). Just kind of wish we did flip phones with chromebooks for school until 18, then they can do what they wish, but have to teach moderation now otherwise they will go more overboard later.
