no they didn't. objective composite computer rankings had Indiana at 7 and
BYU at 17. Even those rankings that really lean into neutrality and avoiding conference bias (such as Colley's) still had 11-1 Indiana higher than BYU (Colley's had Indiana at 8 and BYU at 12).

If BYU were a 1 loss at large team with non-conference win over SMU, then they should get in over 1 loss Indiana.

But the moderate difference in SOS (BYU at 68, Indiana at 87) isn't large enough to make up the difference for 1 loss versus 2 losses.
