... I watched Smallville. It was a really good and fun show. Anyway, the 100th episode was a doozy. I had a memory of an episode that was incredibly good and this thread had me go back and look it up and I just learned it was the 100th episode and was given extra umph and drama. The episode was called "Reckoning".
Synopsis from my memory: Clark decided to share his secret with Lana and propose to her, but this led to a series of events culminating in Lana's death. Clark could not accept that and he got Jor-el to reverse time (that is the best way I can recall it off memory from years ago). Jor-el warned that an equal price would have to be paid, and Clark said anything else would be better. It put Clark back to the moment earlier in the episode where he revealed his identity to Lana. Clark was holding a lump of coal that he pressurized into a huge diamond (and had given to her earlier in the episode when he told her his secret), which now he did not give to Lana because he realized he could not reveal his identity to her. Clark had previously told Lana that this would be a life-changing day for her, but now he had to blow that off and Lana walked away very disappointed with James Blount's "You're Beautiful" playing in the background with Clark sadly looking on as Lana left the room and Blount's lyrics "I will never be with you ..." quietly playing out. Then at the end of the episode, Jonathan Kent has a heart attack and dies. It really was perfection.
