Keep thinking about it and you’ll figure out the differences.
1. Last year’s playoff field was the most tightly contested field ever (Georgia lost their first game in the SEC title game and dropped from #1 to #6. That’s crazy).
2. Last year there were only 4 playoff teams
3. Last year there were no auto bids
4. Despite this, FSU dropped a single spot from #4 to #5
5. FSU QB Jordan Travis was very good, the drop off was stark
6. UGA QB Carson Beck kinda sucks and nobody thinks it’s some massive drop off
7. There is such a large gap between Georgia and Boise that none of this matters with this format
