Guys like Empey, Mahe, Cahoon, Doman, Dupaix, and Detmer really shouldn't have ever been coaching at BYU. Not because they aren't great guys. I love those guys. Some of them were my childhood heroes. But BYU should have been able to afford coaches who were ... coaches.

If you get fired from one coaching job and your next job isn't another coaching job, you maybe weren't really a coach to begin with. These are guys who left BYU to run family businesses or sell medical equipment or even MLM products.

I think that era is finally over now.
