I used to live there. Good choice.
Pair it with Paris. Rent a car. It's not as crazy in the summer as you think. The days are long. Dedicate 2-3 days to dday, including Bayeux, and then prioritize other things you want to do, like Bastogne or Mt-St-Michel or Ypres or Rouen, etc. or even the Loire Valley It'll be one of the best weeks of your life.
