It shouldn’t, but here we are. The average income in the US is $37,585, which comes out to about $2,200 a month.
That isn’t very much to live on considering how much everything costs these days.

On top of that, 30% of Americans make less than $35,000.

If you save $100 a month, you can pay that medical bill off in 10 months. And with that, you’re praying nothing else happens during that time. It’s really hard for a lot of people to get ahead.

I’m not saying we don’t have bad spending habits. But it’s way more complicated than “people just spend too much.”
