Hey Dawson: Just cut your turnover rate down to where Trevin now has his, and your game becomes legit.
Two years ago Trevin Knell made the dubious choice that being one of the finest 3 point shooters in the nation wasn't good enough for his offensive game and decided he needed to penetrate the paint. Knell's turnover rate spiked, especially in games against top tier teams.

It was the equivalent of insisting that the great running back Barry Sanders could not be effective unless he learned how to block.

Last year Knell took care of the ball better, continued to improve this year, and so far in 2025, he has not suffered a single turnover in 3 top tier games. His ratio of arc shots to 2pt FGA is the most skewed ever with 51 threes vs only 15 twos. Trev has always worked hard on defense, and his offensive efficiency is off the charts. It's no wonder he receives such lavish praise from Coach Young.

If Dawson doesn't correct, his turnover rate is going to go up, not down, as he faces quicker, smarter competition in Big 12 games who will have studied every Baker inclination and pounce. In B12 games, where everyone knows everyone else so well, it's like MLB batters and pitchers. You have to constantly adjust and do the unexpected or get snuffed being predictable. He can still take it to the rim when his opponents blunder and give him a 100% clear path to the basket. Otherwise, keep the ball off the floor, get your turnover rate down to single digits, hit 40% from the arc, and continue improving on defense.

Go Cougs! Go Dawson!
