Very very different caves. Nutty Putty was relatively safe. Jones broke a number of huge spelunking rules and used

spectacularly bad judgement to end up where he did in the way he did. Most people even using a modicum of common sense would never have ended up where he did.

Gollums cave required swimming underwater and hoping an air pocket was available at the end of the tunnel, which may or may not be there depending on recent rain. Bad judgement was a requirement to entering that cave.
