It can simultaneously be true that RS contributed zero toward AJ's NIL AND that BYU boosters put up millions of dollars for AJ. The BYU NIL collective has multiple other billionaires and many, many other very wealthy donors who donate a ton of money to BYU sports.

We really don't know how much AJ is getting or which donors are primarily responsible, but Ryan Smith has said that he is not.
