And I'm not one of those right now. I was after last year, but I've moved off of that for now. However our ceiling is ultimately going to be dictated by ARod and so I do understand people who are concerned even at 10-2. We're no longer hamstrung by Tuiaki and unfortunately for all the good that Kalani does, our coords are what is gonna win us games or lose us games with rosters like this. Kalani has the culture piece, but the coords need to be excellent not just okay or mediocrely good. If Hill continues at his current trajectory, his time at BYU is limited which is where keeping a guy that is arguably worse than when he got the job is risky. I'm fine with people calling for ARod under the premise that we're limited in how much time we'll keep Jay Hill and we need need really good to excellent on both sides, not just one. A 50th or 60th rated O just isn't gonna get it done every week if you want elite as we saw coming down the stretch. Any of us would have taken Alamo Bowl in August. None of us would have taken it after week 8 because expectations moved. Maybe it's not fair, but we just needed to be okay to beat Kansas, not even good. That game really is squarely on he and Jake and if Jake was as beat up as he looked that game, somebody is getting paid to have a backup ready to be a better option than our starter at 70% health.

ARod came into this season squarely on the hot seat. I'd say by game 8 he had worked his way clearly off, but I'd also say we're in this Jay Hill window for winning. You need both sides to be better than 50th. If you're okay with 50th because that's what you think our ceiling is, just come out and say you think ARod is the best we can do. There are programs out there that fire guys for performing at the level ARod has. We're not Ohio State or Michigan or USC and don't have those resources, but we're still talking about a guy who's best seasons with the program were his first 2
