Darnold's one year in San Francisco was extremely meh. 28-46 for 297 yards and an 85.6 passer rating. But it reset him, got him out of bad habits and he was able to build confidence.

My guess is the 49ers think they can do that or better with Wilson. I also think they will bring in another guy to compete. But when was the last time Kyle Shanahan paid big money to a QB? Never? Do you think Purdy deserves $60 million a year. He is very smart but not elite mostly due to a lack of arm strength. Most would say no.
