This would be a good take if I said we should extend ARod
That's not what I said though. I said we shouldn't fire him because of a couple bad halves. Just like we shouldn't fire Jay Hill for a couple of bad halves of football. By the OPs argument we really would need to let go of Jay.

Here's the reality of what ARod has done at BYU:

-ARod has met the mark 3/4 years as OC
-ARod was hamstrung with a cheap OL coaching hire
-ARod hasn't had time to load up with B12 talent. Most of his best HS recruits have been mission first players and are finally coming into the program. Even with the younger guys on the team he's been forced to use a lot of RMs that signed with Jeff Grimes as OC. If you don't believe me go through the roster. He has brought in a lot of talent from the portal that fixed some gaping holes.
-BYU hasn't had much NIL money till this year, and now that he has it ARod did pretty well recruiting-- the top half of our recruiting class is mostly offensive players while the bottom half is mostly defensive players so far.

If ARod can't get a high level QB or the OL to run the ball at really high level he should not be retained long term. But right now guys are looking at BYU as a place to be, not the opposite. You don't make changes that screw up the best recruiting BYU has seen on the offensive side of the ball in the last decade.
