doing shorter jumps, fewer twists, etc than the other competitors. And that’s what they’re doing going 9-3 vs Sam Houston, etc. it’s not the same thing as playing a P4 schedule. But don’t feel bad-They have a path. Be the highest rated g5 champ. Win more games, play tougher schedules and earn it. I don’t think any conference champ should be guaranteed without some threshold ranking. An unranked team doesn’t deserve a shot at the CFP.
In. Perfect world the sport would reset into 6-8 geographical conferences with most P4 and a few g5 teams. The rest would merge with FCS. The new conferences would all send a couple teams plus a few extra at larges. ND would be required to join. Central authority in charge of equitable out of conference scheduling. TV rights sold as a package with equitable distribution based on performance and eyeballs. Add some nominal process to be added to the fold if certain benchmarks are met.
