If I wanted to pick the overall best player, that would be Messi. He can influence an entire game in more ways than any other player can. The combination of his ability to score, pass, dribble, manipulate space, and draw defenders is why he is the GOAT.

You can make an argument that he is the best scorer, best passer, and best dribbler in any single game he plays in. There are games where he might be playing against Ronaldo, or Ronaldinho, or De Bruyne (just as examples) where he might be relegated to second best in those categories in a given game, but when you are the best, or at worst the second best in all those categories in any given game, you are the GOAT.
