where the term "Stinking Rich" comes from?

Back in the day (waaay back) normal people were buried in the field behind the church. However the "rich" received special privileges and where either buried or entombed in the basement of the church. So when people would come to church...there would be foul odors emanating from the basement...from those STINKING RICH people down there.
