We had 2 rods with downriggers. Cheap poles with monofilament line and one of a couple specific lures tipped with a specific maggot. Depth varies time of year. We were at 10-20’

Then we had two side planers with rapalas out the sides. Again, it was a specific rapala.

Sometimes we dropped a 5th line with a poor man’s downrigger straight out the back with the same downrigger lures

He was VERY specific about the weight of line, type of rod, type of knot, how far you let it out, etc.

On the day we took the kids, we didn’t have time to get our own setup to match his. We had stiffer rods, higher weight line, etc. we lost a lot more fish that day. Still got hits, but land rate was maybe 60% vs 85-90% on the other days
