Demin is at times projected as a top five pick, would would be in the neighborhood of a $10 million per year, multi-year contract. If he was near the bottom of the first round, it is more like $3 million per year. If Demin struggles to some extent this year, and starts to fall closer to the bottom of the first round, he's going to think hard about whether it is worthwhile to get another year of development, during which he can rack up assists to possibly the best shot creator in college basketball. Oh, and by the way, if he stays at BYU he still makes seven figures, so it isn't exactly the sacrifice to stay in college that it used to be.
