Being a BYU fan is the biggest tease ever.
Since the 80s-90s even when we have our best years we have nothing to show for it, not since we were in the MWC and even then it wasn't that meaningful because there were no playoffs and no one really cared on a national level.

I think we are tired of getting our hopes up and having them dashed. Don't get me wrong, beating Utah is nice and it was fun competing for a title in a P4 conference, but that's all it is. No one remembers those teams and no one cares.

It is definitely better winning 10 games than where we were predicted to finish, but the point is this is at least the position we want to be in on a yearly basis. The fact were were predicted to win only 4 games may have had something to do with us making the transition to better competition, but that is still too low of a bar after all those years of independence were supposed to be preparing us instead of being in a G5 league and reflects poorly on the job people did to get us to that point. Even Boise who is actually in a G5 league from the northwest has somehow managed to kill it.

I don't know, I think this is just a matter of "look how bad we were before, we should be throwing a parade for exceeding unnecessarily low expectations" but it was because there was good reason for them after the dismal season last year.

If that sounds like an entitled fan, sue me. If we really want the respect we think we deserve, to be mentioned among the elite then we should be expecting more, sure we can be grateful but let's no go nuts.
