Those donation numbers are largely driven by how schools structure their ticket costs, including a mandatory donation for each ticket. But the important detail here is schools cannot spend it on NIL.

In order to allocate that to NIL, the schools would have to keep that money in the hands of the donors and hope they voluntarily spend it on NIL. In order to keep that money in the hands of donors, they would need to lower ticket costs and anything else that currently is paid for with donations. Such as salaries, facilities and stadium expansions, and most of all, mandatory season seat donations.
