As people have pointed out, his only OC experience at Syracuse last year, wasn't necessarily the best, however, he only had one year to make do with whatever talent was there, so I dont think you can really make a good assessment or place blame quite yet.
Then, at UNM this season he had a #4 ranked offense (yards) but #28 in scoring (Red Zone troubles?)... however, they were in the 50-60th ranked offense last season, so that is a massive improvement YoY and very impressive.
In short, this might be good to have Utah gamble on him as the guinea pig, and if he does pan out, it would be that much sweeter to jack him from Utah and just really rile up their fan base, haha
