It's also the reason that Miami will be higher than BYU in tonight's CFP ranking, because they started at #19 and then beat a mediocre SEC team in their first game of the year, so naturally that confirmed that everybody's pre-season bias that Miami was going to be a good team, and the pollsters jumped them from #19 to #12.
And that same bias lingers through the entire season, with voters and CFP committee giving them more credit than they deserve for their wins and not punishing them for their losses as much as other teams (like BYU).
