Very few RBs can carry that kind of load. Of the 178 RBs with at least 100 carries this year, only 11 had 20+ carries/game. Ashton Jeanty and Tahj Brooks of Texas Tech tied for the most at 26 per game.

Here are the stats for some of the other best RBs in the Big 12 this year:

Cam Skattebo (ASU): ~22 carries/game; 5.7 YPC
Devin Neal (KU): ~18 carries/game; 5.8 YPC
RJ Harvey (UCF): ~19 carries/game; 6.8 YPC

Those are the elite. I'd certainly love a dude like that, but those guys aren't in the portal.

The portal gives you guys like Chris Brooks and Aiden Robbins. Solid at best, but not spectacular, and probably not better than LJ.

I agree with you that LJ needs to up his game, which might also entail ARod giving him more carries. We also don't know if/how his injury early in the year affected his workload. That said, if he were injury prone, I would agree with you that we can/should move on. But I don't think we can make that judgement quite yet after only 1.5 seasons.

Regardless, we absolutely do need better depth with/behind LJ. I certainly agree with you that, regardless of injuries, your QB shouldn't be the leading rusher halfway through the season.
