Outside of the CFP, bowl games are just to get ready for next year.
Play the young guys and get ready for the off-season.
If a player is likely to go in the first three rounds of the NFL draft, then I don't see a problem with them sitting out.
If someone can increase their stock by playing, then more power to them.
